Main purpose of role

Propagation Place Intern: This is an exciting role for someone interested in developing their green skills working in a community enterprise working towards support our local food system. All students with an interest in social enterprise, food and sustainability are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will gain experience of working in a busy community business, with opportunities to help develop our community outreach programme, gain skills in horticulture, project work, customer service, marketing and social media, and working with volunteers. 

What would you be doing? 

  • Support our business review and strategy plan to improve our business model.

  • Support the team in developing a marketing and sales strategy for our online course.

  • Communicate Propagation Place’s key messages, marketing, and news updates through social media, blogging and website updates.

  • Support the work of St Werburghs City Farm and Propagation Place by being an ambassador for food education and sustainability initiatives. 

  • Undertake the role of an advocate and enable self-advocacy of beneficiaries/volunteers.

  • Ensure the safety of yourself, and others in accordance with the Farm's risk assessments and health and safety policies.

• Commitment to learning new skills.

• Understanding of social media and its wide channels for usage
• Able to work efficiently and prioritise tasks
• Desire to work in a charitable setting and with an organisation that supports its local community 

• Commitment to inclusion, equality, and accessibility
• Strong ability to work as part of a team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to recognise information needs and identify and utilise appropriate information sources.
• Takes responsibility for own time and effectiveness.

Desirable

• Knowledge of sustainable food systems
• Knowledge of Digital Marketing and Sales strategies
• Experience of working with projects from a range of backgrounds, remits etc
• A desire to see other's work succeed

• Experience of working in a charitable organisation

• Knowledge or interest in social enterprise development
