About Windmill Hill City Farm 

Windmill Hill City Farm is a 4.5-acre green space in South Bristol, 20-minutes’ walk from Bristol city centre. It offers education, recreation and therapy for local people and is a vital hub for the community. 

Facilities on site include a café and farm shop, children’s nursery, community & kitchen gardens, a range of farm animals, picnic and play areas, indoor and outdoor spaces to hire and a 5-a-side football pitch.

What would you be doing? 

The intern will: 

  • Analyse our energy consumption to provide good baseline data about our emissions across Scopes 1-3, and make actionable suggestions for reduction

  • Work with staff to motivate and engage them to take action in their own departments, which include health & social care, gardening, facilities, hospitality and nursery. 

  • Due to the timing of the project, the interns will need to work independently, as annual leave plans mean the supervision will be varied across the 6 weeks.

Windmill Hill City Farm, Philip Street, Bedminster, Bristol, BS3 4EA 

What are the working hours? 

Flexible – can be full time or part time.

Duration

6 weeks to be completed by 31st August 2022. 

Intern description

There are no essential qualifications required for this Internship. Good written and spoken English is desirable

 

Essential skills/knowledge

  • Understanding of the contributing factors to carbon emissions and other environmental impacts (water use, biodiversity, etc)

  • Ability to work with some level of independence.

  • Good research skills, or a good foundation to build on.

  • Good communication skills, or a willingness and ability to quickly develop these.

  • Punctuality and enthusiasm.

 

Desirable skills/knowledge

  • An understanding of the objectives of Windmill Hill City Farm
