Main purpose of role

VINCI Construction UK are delivering a new low-carbon Passivhaus development at UWE. This project will provide 900 new student accommodation beds at the Frenchay Campus.

This role will allow Interns to gain a well rounded introduction to the specialisms that come together to deliver a sustainable construction project. 

What would you be doing? 

We are looking for Interns who are interested in learning about what makes a successful Passivhaus development, Interns will have the opportunity to shadow and get involved with some of the major specialisms on the project, including design, commercial and project management

 

Where is the opportunity based? 

- On site at UWE, Bristol

- There is also an opportunity to work within our regional office in Hambrook, Bristol, BS16 

What are the working hours? 

Flexible – can be full time or part time - must be completed by 31st August 2022.

Intern description

Essential

- There are no essential qualifications or skills, other than literacy and numeracy, as we can tailor the placement to the learners interest and skills.

- Teamwork, problem solving, ability to work on their own (with direction from our team), Communication and Collaboration 

 

Desirable

- Education up to (or including) degree level is desirable.

- CSCS is not essential for the role as they will be working in our site office - but if they did have it, that would enable to them spend more time onsite.

- Basic knowledge of some of the key aspects of construction and contracting would be desirable but not essential

- Digital skills 

 

 

Recruitment process

  1. Learners should provide their CV (with details of their education to date and any previous experience) and a covering letter. This covering letter should outline why they would be looking to explore the construction industry, what, if any in particular, specialisms they would be interested in, and what they would be looking to achieve during their internship.

  3. Depending on the number of applicants, we would look to have a short informal interview with all applicants

  4. This interview would be fairly informal, and would mainly be an opportunity for the site management team to meet the applicant and talk through the opportunity and what they may be able to do, while working on the project. This would hopefully ensure that the role would be the right fit for the applicant.
